MUSA’s Academy is a focused and intensive program intended to enhance the ability of players technically, tactically and physically. Our top priority is your child’s development and to maximize their potential as future soccer stars! Every player will benefit from our advanced soccer curriculum in which players will not only be introduced to new skills but also be taught how to master the fundamentals of soccer. Academy teams compete against other club’s top players which provides the highest level of competition possible. MUSA’s Academy is a full year (spring & fall) commitment.
Here are some of the benefits of Academy Soccer vs Recreational play:
Paid, professional coaches who will follow a specialized soccer curriculum focused on ball mastery and a greater awareness of the game.
A higher level of competition. Play with other top players who love the game and will challenge each other to always be at their best.Be a part of a more structured soccer environment specifically designed to support the more serious players.
The Academy roster will be completed after tryouts have been held and our coaches have had a chance to evaluate each of the player's strengths. Players who make the team will need to be prepared for the following:
Be ready to commit fully to each training session and be receptive to honest and direct coaching.
Be ready to travel to away games which may include end of the season tournaments.
Be ready to compete for your spot in the starting lineup. Unlike Rec soccer, playing time in academy is not a given. Playing time must be earned during training hard in practice and at home.
Be prepared to represent MUSA as a premier player. MUSA academy players must not only be model athletes but also have excellent sportsmanship. That means having respect for all players, coaches and referees.
Full academy costs are below:
Must Sign up for Tryouts! Register player by birth year. The registration price will not be billed unless player makes the team. MUSA has a new payment schedule. See the Clubs Fees.

FAQ about Academy Program
What age groups does Academy soccer apply to?
Academy is from age U9 to U12
Is Academy soccer that different from Recreational soccer?
Yes. Expectations for the players in Academy soccer are much higher. There will be two 90 minutes practices per week and one or two games per weekend. In Recreational soccer, players are placed on a team on a first-come, first served basis, regardless of ability level. Academy players are selected via ability, experience, and proven commitment level.
How many practices per week?
There will be 2-3 practices a week depending on the situation and the coach. There may be more practices during preseason or before tournaments.
How long is practice?
Practices will be 1.5 hrs.
What is the farthest they will travel for a game?
The farthest we’ll be traveling is the Atlanta area.
Do players carpool to games?
We encourage parents and players to ride share, but MUSA does not provide transportation.
If a player cannot attend a particular tournament, do we still have to pay?
Yes. It is club policy that the tournament fees are divided equally between all rostered players for that team, regardless of whether the player can make the tournament or not.
How much playing time will my son/daughter get?
Playing time will be affected by performance, ability, effort, and commitment, both at practice and in games. This is the coaches decision.
Which fields will practice be at?
Location of the practices will likely be at Elan in the fall.
Who will be coaching?
Coaches for the team will be a licensed, paid coach from Young Harris College Soccer program. Academy Staff Page
Can I raise money for the player by fundraising?
